No. 27 Houston Astros

Houston Astros

Hitting their way to #27 (#30 being the best), we have the Houston Astros and Minute Maid Park.  The organization was the first team to have a dome, “AstroTurf”, and now; a new sod called “Platinum TE Paspalum”.  Nick-named the “Juice Box”, the stadium has a retractable roof and wifi throughout the stadium.

Noticing that fans wash their hands gets our UFE (Urine Feces Everywhere) team excited, we admit it. So when we see 80%-90% fans washing their hands that is great news!  The stadium has plenty of wall space in the restrooms covered with soap dispensers and towel dispensers, which probably acts both as a reminder and as convenience to wash hands.

What our UFE team also liked was the concession stands at the stadium.  Usually someone from our team would notice, at other stadiums, an employee who would take your money (touching it) and then prepare/handle your order (again…touching it) which is kind of gross.

Houston received high marks on their separated system, where they had the food counter on one side, and the cashier on the other.  So when one employee hands you your food, you turn around and give the cashier (who does not touch your food) money.  It was a very nice touch in avoiding the spread of germs.

We would like to thank the staff at Houston (just as we did for the Rangers) for being so kind to us and giving us some facts and history about the stadium as well.  There is some truth to “Southern Hospitality” 50 years in the NL, the Astros will be moving to the AL in 2013.
